The Spirit of HPL – Past, Present and Future

The spirit of HPL is illustrated by its stunning horse logo. Originating from a famous Japanese artist, the image was first given to the father of Chris' friend. What's unique about the piece is its beautiful brush style, which distinguishes itself as a symbol of fluidity. Chris chose this horse because it reminded him of the fluid movements required in both surfing and polo. 

In a sense, the spirit of Hawaii is universal, because everyone is familiar with the island's natural beauty. Even those who have never stepped on the land can imagine its presence. The brand itself is Chris' passion project, and he uses it to tell the story of polo in Hawaii, which goes all the way back to the first kingdom.  

The story contains three parts: a past, a present and a future. The past is represented by Hawaii's first king, Kamehameha. Because of the ruler’s bold actions, Hawaii became the first nation to support Argentina's independence. Now, two hundred years later, Hawaii and Argentina are merged together through Chris' polo work, in which Argentina plays a vital role. 

In the present, a famous Argentine – Adolfo Cambiaso, one of the greatest players in the sport's history – is beginning to pass the torch to his son Poroto, who just became the youngest player to win the Argentine Open and reach 10-goal status.  

According to Chris, the future is Poroto himself, who’s destined to take the sport by storm. Chris is dedicated to supporting Poroto and the legacy he represents. The impressive young athlete is now a global ambassador for Hawaii Polo Life.
